Acknowledgement via a Donor Roll of Honour?

We are considering creating a Donor Roll of Honour to recognise the generosity of our donors.

It would acknowledge one-off donations or the accumulation of regular ones over time, irrespective of whether they went on supporting pupil-related activities, infrastructure or development projects or to the Pressing Needs Fund.

Many school foundations do this to acknowledge and publicly thank those who have so generously helped. Of course, donations may be made anonymously, in which case we would not mention the person’s name. Often it can be comforting to a family to see their departed relative’s bequest acknowledged.

Donor Rolls of Honour usually group donations into bands (e.g., Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Major Gifts) and we expect to follow that practice.  Details would be published in an annual Roll of Honour report detailing the donations made and the success stories and achievements they have enabled.  For many years, major donations, usually bequests, have been mentioned in the Annual Reports and Accounts each year.
